PEDIATRIC TB
Children with TB remain invisible in the global movement against TB: underdiagnosed, undertreated, and unheard. Despite being preventable and curable, TB continues to be a major cause of illness and death among children. Each year, thousands of children in India and globally contract TB, many from adult caregivers who are themselves undiagnosed or poorly treated.

At Survivors Against TB, we believe that children deserve the same urgency, dignity, and quality of care as any adult. Paediatric TB is mired in delay, misdiagnosis, lack of child-friendly treatment options, and a deep silence around its emotional and developmental toll.

We work to shift this reality by:
-
Advocating for early diagnosis through active screening in high-burden households and schools
-
Pushing for child-friendly diagnostics and drug formulations accessible across public health facilities
-
Centering caregivers and families in care, recognising their role in treatment and support
-
Addressing the mental health needs of children with TB and their families
-
Highlighting lived experiences of child and adolescent TB survivors to shape policy
We also work closely with communities to break the silence and stigma around TB in children, ensuring it does not prevent families from seeking help.
The youngest voices may be the quietest, but they carry the greatest urgency.
