TB VACCINES

For nearly a century, the world has relied on a single TB vaccine, the BCG, which offers limited protection and does not prevent adult pulmonary TB, the most common and infectious form. Today, after decades of stagnation, we are finally on the brink of change.

As new vaccine candidates move closer to approval, we are working to ensure that survivors and high-burden communities are not left out of the conversation. We eagerly look forward to new candidates and our work focuses on inclusion and participation research, access, and rollout.

Through our vaccine advocacy work, we:

  • Push for community engagement in clinical trials and vaccine research

  • Demand transparent and inclusive decision-making on vaccine deployment

  • Advocate for free, universal access to effective TB vaccines globally

  • Raise awareness to counter vaccine hesitancy, misinformation, and build trust

  • Ensure that survivor voices shape demand generation and delivery strategies

We know from history that new tools don’t automatically reach those who need them most. Unless equity is built in from the start, TB vaccines must become an opportunity for addressing TB proactively.
